Feb. 19, 2025 update…

Just a little update of what been going on. The 9-5 has been a little crazy so trying to get much work done durning the week has been tough. I’ve let my morning routine slip away trying to get adequate sleep to maintain energy levels throughout the work day. I will get it back on track once the days get a little bit longer and I begin to shoot a little more. Hopefully that will be after this cold snap that we are currently having. 10 degrees and 20 mph wind just doesn’t seem like great photo weather to me.

Over this past month I have been on a rapid descent down a rabbit hole called darkroom printing. I’ve been gathering a few supplies, learning a ton, and trying out different techniques. Trying to learn as much as possible to create the final images that fit my vision for some of the images I have taken. The more I have been learning, the more my workflow in the field is changing. While the couple of projects that I had been working on have slowed down, there is progress being made and the vision for the end results is becoming clearer.

This past weekend I did 2 runs of prints that, while a little behind schedule, should be available for purchase in the upcoming couple of weeks. The first one is just waiting on mats to arrive. I ordered a batch of mats for them but when they came in the “white core” that was advertised was actually a light purple. So I am waiting for a second batch to arrive that is supposed to be in today. Worst case, I also ordered a batch from another company that will be in next week. Once they come in, I will get them secured in the mats, bagged up and put up for sale. Currently working on logistics as well.

The second run is waiting on mats as well, however, after a little experimenting, I am currently waiting on a couple of supplies that will come in by the weekend so they can be altered slightly. These are the ones that I am most excited about. There were SEVERAL test prints that were made before settling on the final version. With these, I will test my abilities to further enhance the final prints.

I have been posting a little bit on Instagram through some of the process and will try to be more diligent about capturing more of the process to show everyone the work involved as well as my joy doing it. While I do not love that platform, it is the easiest to use at the moment. I would love to find a way to do something similar (short form photos with little text) on here but until I can learn how that is the best option. So be sure to go follow over there if you do not already. @beardedphotographytx

Hope everyone is staying warm!
